The sound of my car's window wipers going at medium speed while rain hits the window in gusts of strong wind. This was recorded in-person with a tascam dr-40 stereo recorder. I was recording wind that blows in my window, but the zoom h2 placed on a (cheap) mic stand after some time started to bend itself downwards. It hit the curtain/drape in my window and rubbed itself against it until reached the lowest position - the mic stands arm stopped gently as it started. This produced a very interesting sound that i totally didn't expect to find on the recording. Edited with audacity.

A stereo wav recording from a zoom h1n during a thunderstorm today. One siren picks up followed by several more producing a convincing stereo image. I have done a basic bass roll-off, but have left it otherwise untouched. If you have a spectral editor you can probably clean out more of the noise, but i couldn't do so and keep the sirens sounding good.

This was recorded during a harsh storm here i stockholm. Harsh winds blowing thru a small forest. Details such as leaves rustling and hard stormy winds are key components in this recording. It sounds like a storm is approaching what do you think?. I honestly don't remember what i did in post. . . I think i removed alot of bass/rumble, added an expander to remove some unwanted noise to help the winds and leaves to stand out. I probably used rx to clean up some unwanted noises. Equipment:zoom h5 + sony ecm 6080s condenser mic. This was a test to see how the stereo configuration on the ecm 6080s sounded like. I really like it but i would prefer an ab configuration with 2 dpa 2011 or even 2 4060. . . I like the sound it was able to capture even if it may be a little to "centered". I probably will try to use it for my future hiking trips to capture rivers and general ambiances, if i get something special i will upload them here. Hope you like it.

I captured this sound on my canon powershot a460 digital camera. It was a horrible night, with strong winds and heavy rain. I went to my garden shed and positioned my camera at the small window inside my shed as there is a small hole in the right hand corner of the window, and through this small hole the wind blows through it making this whistle sound, almost like a flute. I tried out some new gear and methods! more mountainside rain! a complete storm from beginning to end with swelling and then waning rainfall, occasional thunder. Ms stereo bar on mic stand projected through open second-floor window, just under the roof eaves. Recorded july 20th during one of the mid-afternoon brief intense storms we can seem to get frequently in the rocky mountain foothills beginning around june. If you were listening and wondering, the direct sound of the thunder is somewhat occluded as i believe the storm was behind the overhanging roof and house from the perspective of the microphone array. The mountainous terrain and other objects in the field reflected some of that thunderclap, as well as the exterior wall of the home, and so this is all a little bit funky. Over 6 hours of night ambient shot in the countryside near a house close to the main road. Rain hitting the vines, thunders, village sounds, crickets, occasional cars passing on the road, far thunders with no rain, dogs barking, roosters, all in one unedited take. This was recorded with the mobile phone (allview e2 living) with the "voice recorder" app at maximum quality settings so do expect a lower quality. You are free to use this sound as you wish.

The soundscape of a thunderstorm that passed over berlin in 2012, recorded from my backyard window with a little earplug stereo mic that a friend once made for me - a dummy head. The heavy rain was followed by thunder, then transforms into softer rain that lets you hear faint city sounds like cars, doors closing, someone using a screwdriver, voices, the bells of a nearby church, airplanes and birds. There's so much to hear, i couldn't stop recording. I only took out some little peaks caused by the movement of my ear.

Recorded from my apartment, second floor. This starts with a few bolts of lightning during the end of a typical early summer afternoon and ends up on a pretty huge thunderstorm including hail. I wish i could have recorded more but the storm was getting so important, i had to close my window.

It was raining one night so i used a sony px720 digital voice recorder to catch some hopefully cool atmospheric type sounds. I placed the recorder next to my apartment window and stepped away for a few minutes. My window is situated right next to a rain-gutter so you hear the rain hitting the pavement along with the rain flowing down the gutter. You also hear four different cars drive by during the recording. Well that's about it hopefully these sounds are of some use to people.

A stark soundscape of the icy wind swooshing through dry oak leaves on the edge of a midwestern lake. Plus, as an added bonus, from out of nowhere two fast-moving canada geese come storming through at only about 25 feet from where i was standing!. I was very lucky because they are so close that at some point during this recording, you can actually hear the sound of the wind being pummeled by the beating of the geese's very large, strong wings. Equipment: sound devices mixpre-6 and sennheiser mkh 416 inside a blimp. Recorded on monday december 28 2020 around 1:30 in the afternoon. Outside temp was 37 degrees and the wind was blowing steady at 10 to 15 miles an hour.

Five minutes of rain, artificially created. Same mix as my other "five minutes of rain" upload, but without the reverb in case you want to add your own. Process:. Using a blue yeti usb condenser mic on the cardioid pattern, i made a 30-minute recording of sounds from my sink (drips, splashes, different faucet pressures) and cut them up into 60 files, later edited down to 20. These were layered together and mixed with white, pink, and brownian noise. Slight noise removal applied. Recorded basic mic noise, and used a subtractive processor (reafir in reaper) to remove that sound from the final mix. .

Disclaimer: this may be loud. Check your volume. This sound is an experiment i did for a short film my crew and i are working on. I wanted to see if i could make a warning effect like the civil defense messages that play on the radio for storms and other emergencies, so i recorded my voice, and pitched it down, equalized it, put it through a high pass filter and lo and behold, i think it sounds pretty darn close. I then coupled it with a couple alert tones from my local noaa / nssl station and this sound was born. This effect could be used for an apocalyptic scenario or civil unrest, riots, looting, or anything else you desire. Not required, but it would be cool to hear if you use it for anything. Enjoy!.

This stereo recording was made on november 23, 2014 in grays harbor washington during a rare thunderstorm. The clip contains rain falling on a wooden deck and recurring peals of thunder both near and far. This original recording was made using a zoom h-6 handy recorder with zoom stereo xy microphone. The track was edited in audacity 2. 0. 6 to remove a few artifacts. Total run time for this wav file is: 8:29. This is my first upload. I am hearing impaired and new to field audio recording. I am fascinated by this art form and hearing sounds that i haven’t been able to hear in twenty years. I'm back with another binaural. I am attempting to capture the sounds that remind me of the places i have visited. This is a recording of fuertaventura, in the canary islands, inland in the desert, morning with the wind blowing the sand, desert mountains all around just like the wild west. I upgraded my binaural mics to roland cs-10em from my homemade ones. I'm happy if you can notice the difference. I like that they are combined mics and earphones with little windbooms. Files are recorded in:24-bit 96khz. Wav. They are as big and as high quality as i can make. Please comment :).

I stood quite sheltered from the wind, above me the rustling trees from the breeze that was just blowing. In the distance a dog was barking. Nice stereo effect :-). The recording is edited. My first upload to freesound is a thunderstorm recorded in gateshead, uk, next to our open bathroom window. Some lovely thunderclaps and rain. Recorded on a zoom h5. There are also some household sounds swimming around in the background, doors closing, dishes clinking etc; i think you can hear the radio or something very faintly towards the end -- but there's plenty of clean usable thunder and rain in there. Incidentally i often use this type of thing in my long-form instrumental music, produced under the name conelrad. Note: the high-pitched squeaks are artifacts from freesound's preview and aren't present in the actual recording. 10 minutes of a thunderstorm, recorded september 7th, 2019 from my apartment window in seattle. This is the raw recording straight from my zoom h5. Levels were kept low to minimize the chance of clipping. A few thunder sounds were still too loud, but luckily the h5 has a backup function that recorded an identical track 12 db quieter. I've uploaded that as well, so you can splice the two together to taste. Eventually i'll release a processed version with the two combined, plus compression and eq, but i wanted to upload the source material in case you'd prefer to diy it.

I'm attempting to create a controllable thunderstorm for a film, and this is my first legitimate attempt. This recording consists of 4 samples of rain, and another 3 samples of rain+thunder that i recorded one afternoon. Equipment used was the inbuilt mics on a roland r-26, and a sennheiser me66 into a sound devices 702. The clips were recorded at 96khz/24-bit, and they were processed at 48khz/24-bit. For processing, i put the samples into kyma, and crossfaded for texture. The howling wind sound is an analog-style low pass filter's frequency, level, and resonance being controlled by a wacom intuos4 pen/tablet. The rain slowly swells, which was done by changing parameters of a granular reverb. The thunder was also controlled by the wacom tablet, with x, y, and z (pressure) dimensions mapped to making the thunder swell in level, density, and texture. This could have been output in surround, but i don't have that many monitors ;). This style of "rain-synthesis" can also go on indefinitely. Please let me know what you think of the quality of this track; eg, if it sounds real, if the wind sounds ridiculous, too much thunder, etc. Use this sound (wherever) if you want to, or let me know if you'd like an mp3 of this, or for it to last longer. This sounds as if it were staged by hollywood, but it actually did happen, i swear! birds chirp away to set the scene, but a beefy thunder roll intrudes. Soon after, raindrops begin to fall as if on cue. Theres a little handling noise click in the begining that is easy to crop out if you like. The recording is unedited. At 1:35 i move the mics closer to the deck so you can hear the splashing. At about at 3:10 i you’ll hear a different timbre as i move away from the rain and under an awning. About 3:45 the rain settles down and the birds start chirping again. Hopefully there are some useful segments in here. Recorded with a dead cat on a tascam dr-05 at 48khz 24 bit, then compressed with “lame --preset insane --scale 10” to make up for the low gain i used (i was afraid a thunderclap would engage the limiter). At the beginning the sound of thunder overload the audio signal because high level of decibels produced for high pressure levels. Recorded with zoom h4n recorder, with x, y mics at 120 degrees. This is an updated (improved is debatable) version of my previous electric contact stun gun firing sound, except longer and without peaking. Oh and higher sampling rate so you can hear all the higher frequencies better when you pitch it down. You'll immediately notice it sounds like the boring buzz of a bee. Oh well, not like you'll get a lightning storm. That's about it. Don't forget to have fun. Copy pasta---also commonly and incorrectly referred to as a "taser" which is on the same level as calling a magazine a "clip". See google for more info. I can't help that it sounds like a bee. Also if it's too short, you'll have to make it longer in your daw. Uses (apart from videos that involve a stun gun or maybe a real taser brand taser): magic lighting zaps? a game show buzzer?. Possible vst modifications. Reverb: sound impulses for speakers. Distortion (guitar style): military style radio noise. Chorus/flange: science sounding things. Pitch: at -30 semitones you get some low pitched sound similar to a airsoft aeg which may be ideal for montage airsoft videos where piles of tokyo marui m4s traditionally muffled by the gopro waterproof case. // at -45 semitones you resemble gun fire at a distance. Mathematically at 10 rps (600 rpm) you could use this as a sit in for a distant fired ak-47 rifle ideal for video games, war movies, mods, etc. Apply a resonant filter and some reverb for appropriate outdoor acoustics. And nobody will know your distant machine gun sound was a civilian stun gun except for us semi colon right parenthesis. Or you could also apply ringmod at ~9000 hz to simulate ear ringing for those ptsd scenes. Or some gau-8 avenger. Trimming + looping + pitch: if you can loop this properly in a daw you could even create a saw style bass for electronic dance music.
